Fields of Mistria Fish Guide: Fishing and Diving Entries

See how the 148 Fishing and Diving entries in Fields of Mistria break down by rod, diving, bait and Fish Trap, and learn which items are not fish.

What the 148 entries actually count

Fields of Mistria’s Almanac tracks 148 Fishing and Diving entries, but that is a collection scope rather than a count of fish. It contains 124 rod-caught entries, 9 Diving Fish/Mollusks, 5 bait-required catches, 5 Fish Trap-only catches, and 5 junk or beach-shell extras.

Use the groups below to find missing collection entries. The page deliberately has no time filter, search box, or per-entry price and rarity database: the collection boundary has been checked, but every one of those fields has not been traced to a source for all 148 rows.

Diveable is not dive-only. GameSpot marks 17 rows as available through diving, but 10 of those names also appear in the main fish table. IGN’s 143 is a filter-pool count, not proof that every displayed field has been independently checked.

These are the normalized names from the Wiki main fish table. For ordinary entries, start with location, season, weather, and shadow size; the four legendary fish also require the Legendary fishing perk.

Pond Snail and Seaweed explain two rows missing from GameSpot’s 141-entry candidate pool. Other main-table fish can also be diveable, so “diving category” and “diveable” are not interchangeable labels.

Season affects the trap’s ocean-fish result, but weather and time do not. The Fish Trap-only entries above are not affected by season or weather. Bait tier affects which categories can appear; it does not change the two/three/four-item probabilities. These page-level rules do not justify an exact chance table for every individual fish, Pirate Set object, or artifact.

Polygon specifically notes that trash and beach shells contribute to the Almanac total. They belong in a Fishing and Diving checklist, but not in a sentence that calls every entry a fish.

Season, weather, shadow size, and time

Razorback and Snakehead source conflicts
EntryLocationSeasonWeatherSingle-source outlier
RazorbackRiverFallAnyGameSpot lists rain, thunder, or storm
SnakeheadPondSpring and FallAnyGameSpot lists summer only

No useful per-entry time column exists in the four structured sources checked. IGN says fish spawn rates are not particularly affected by time of day, which supports checking location, season, weather, and size first; it does not prove that morning and evening are identical for every entry.

Museum, uses, and recipes

The Museum’s Fish Wing gives these catches a collection purpose beyond selling. The Wiki organizes its Fish Wing information into 22 sets, but this page does not map all 148 entries to individual museum sets or donation states. Check the in-game museum screen for your save’s remaining needs rather than assuming every row is donatable.

Aquatic entries can also be used for cooking, crafting, gifting, or quests. Those uses do not turn a recipe into a collection row: the Almanac’s Cooked Dishes category is separate, with 167 entries in the research snapshot.

Cherry Fish, Lightning Fish, Leaf Fish, and Snow Fish are included among the 124 main-table entries, but their unlock has an additional prerequisite: the Legendary fishing perk. For the perk cost, weather disputes, starting areas, and one-per-save recovery boundaries, use the separate Legendary Fish guide.

Can’t find a missing entry?

  1. Check the group: is it a main-table rod entry, a diving-category entry, bait-required, or Fish Trap-only?
  2. Check water and season: the correct body of water matters as much as the region name.
  3. Check weather and shadow size: do not treat similar weather labels as interchangeable.
  4. Check bait tier: the five bait-required entries use Common, Uncommon, or Rare Fish Bait.
  5. Check Fish Trap access: repair the Beach Bridge, place one bait, and collect the next day.
  6. Check non-fish extras: Fiber, Wood, and three shells also fill this Almanac category.
  7. Route legendary fish separately: use the Legendary Fish guide for its perk and notification rules.

These checks organize a search; they do not guarantee a specific catch within a number of casts.

Sources and version notes

Scope and counts come from the Wiki Almanac, Wiki Fish table, Diving Fish/Mollusks category, Polygon’s fish list, IGN’s fish list, and GameSpot’s fishing guide.

Fish Trap rules come from the Wiki Fish Trap page; Razorback and Snakehead fields were checked against their individual Wiki entries and Polygon. Polygon and IGN were updated in August 2026, and the Fish Trap page identified its rules as v1.0.0. Those dates support this research snapshot; they do not turn every row into a latest-patch verification. Wiki pages remain one source family, and no creator image or footage has been licensed or independently reviewed for this page.

Frequently asked questions

How many fish are in Fields of Mistria?

The Almanac's Fishing and Diving category currently has 148 entries, but they are not all fish. The main fish table contains 124 rod-caught entries; the remaining 24 are diving-category entries, bait or Fish Trap catches, junk, or shells.

Why do fish lists show 124, 141, 143, or 148 entries?

They use different scopes. A location table may add diving-only names, bait and Fish Trap catches, Pond Snail, Seaweed, or the final junk and shell extras. The count comparison above shows how each total is constructed.

What are the Diving-only items?

The Wiki Diving Fish/Mollusks category contains Clam, Crayfish, Freshwater Oyster, Newt, Paper Pondshell, Pearl Clam, Pond Snail, River Snail, and Seaweed. Other fish can also be diveable without being dive-only.

Which fish need bait?

Massive Minnow and Copper Rockfish use Common Fish Bait; Iron Fish and Silver Squid use Uncommon Fish Bait; Golden Eel uses Rare Fish Bait.

What can only come from the Fish Trap?

Blue Crab and Bait Thief use Common Fish Bait; Sea Urchin and Hake use Uncommon Fish Bait; Amberjack uses Rare Fish Bait. The trap structure does not promise one of these every day.

Does time of day affect fishing?

This guide does not provide a per-entry time column because the current structured sources do not supply one. IGN's note says time has no particularly strong effect on spawn rates, but that is not proof of identical behavior for every entry.

Do recipes count in the fish collection?

No. Cooked Dishes are a separate Almanac category. A fish can have a recipe use without the finished dish becoming a Fishing and Diving entry.
